Portugal registers 231 more cases and two deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours – O Jornal Economico

Portugal has a total of 58,243 confirmed cases of Covid-19, 231 more than the previous day, reveals the epidemiological bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS) published this Monday, September 1. The number of deaths from the new coronavirus in the country rose to 1,824, with two deaths in the last 24 hours.

The DGS reveals that there are currently 20,941 cases registered in the North, 4,830 in the Center, 30,040 in Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, 1,112 in the Algarve, 213 cases in the Autonomous Region of the Azores, 160 in the Autonomous Region of Madeira and 947 cases in Alentejo.

Currently, there are 350 hospitalized patients, of which 44 are in Intensive Care Units (ICU) and 42,104 cases recovered in Portugal, 143 more than those registered yesterday. Regarding deaths, of the total of 1,824 deaths, 849 are registered in the North, 253 in the Center, 668 in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, 17 in the Algarve, 15 in the Azores, 22 in the Alentejo. There is no death from Covid-19 in Madeira.

There are currently 26,190 men and 32,053 women infected with the new coronavirus. In terms of deaths there are 919 men and 905 women. 33,998 people are under surveillance, 198 fewer than yesterday. There are still 14,315 active cases, 86 more than the one seen yesterday.

The age group with the highest number of cases is that of 40 to 49 years, with 4,332 men and 5,255 women, in a total of 9,587 cases. The highest number of deaths is recorded in 80 years, with 535 men and 685 women, in a total of 1,212 deaths.
