SIC News | The management asks for the immediate closure of the Santarém house

The Fonte Serrã Rest and Leisure Center, in Póvoa de Santarém, has 52 people infected with Covid-19, among users and employees, according to the municipality’s Civil Protection.

The results of the new tests carried out yesterday arrived this Tuesday and confirmed another 16 infected: 12 elderly residents and four employees.

The situation is critical in this house in Santarém. As the SIC has learned, the home address has already asked the delegate of Health and Social Security to proceed with the immediate closure of the house because the minimum security conditions for users are not met.

On Saturday, nine residents with mild symptoms had been admitted to the Abrantes Hospital due to the lack of beds at home.

With the increase in the number of infected people, the situation is now more worrying. The technical director also found out this Sunday that she was infected.

Users who showed symptoms of Covid-19 were transferred to the Hospital de Santarém on August 25.

The health unit is currently facing the absence of 19 doctors: four are infected and 15 are isolated.

Portugal with 2 deaths and 231 cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours

The General Directorate of Health announced this tuesday the existence of 1,824 deaths and 58,243 cases of Covid-19 in Portugal, since the start of the pandemic.

The death toll went from 1,822 to 1,824, 2 more than on Monday. The number of infected people increased from 58,812 to 58,243, 231 more.

The number of people hospitalized is 350, 1 more than yesterday, and in intensive care there are 3 more patients, in a total of 44.

The number of reported patients who recovered from covid-19 has risen again in the last 24 hours to 42,104, 143 more than on Monday.
