“As a general rule, both the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court usually decree that this type of punishment is effective, even if it is necessary to reduce the time of compliance,” he said.
As arguments in favor of effective imprisonment, the lawyer emphasizes that he did not provide assistance to the victim, drove drunk and did not show regret at the hearing.
In addition to the prison sentence, the defendant, a 64-year-old businessman who owns a parking lot in the city, was restricted from driving for a year and will have to pay two thousand euros to a social solidarity institution. You are also required to attend a recovery program for alcoholism and a road prevention course.

The young man was hit and run over, causing a traumatic brain injury that led to his death, already inside the ambulance, on his way to São João Hospital in Oporto.
The defendant fled, immediately afterwards, going to the underground parking that he owns in Braga, to hide the injured vehicle.
