The Regional Secretary of Education issued a statement presenting a schedule for conducting Covid-19 prevention tests and preparing for the 2020/21 academic year.

The Regional Government accepts the “recommendations of the international, national and regional health authorities, in the field of COVID-19 prevention”, and determines the following measures, valid for the network of public and private educational establishments:

– Starting next Wednesday, September 2, teachers and other collaborators of the 1st Cycle Schools of the Region will be tested for COVID-19, in an action coordinated directly by the Regional Secretary of Education, in collaboration with the Institute of Health Administration , IP-RAM (IA Saúde);

– Starting next Friday, September 4, teachers and other collaborators of 2nd and 3rd Cycle and Secondary Schools of the Region will be evaluated for COVID-19, in an action organized by the respective executive bodies, under the supervision of the Regional Secretariat Education, in collaboration with IA Saúde;

– Teachers or other employees who have traveled to or returned to the Region and have performed a negative test for COVID-19, must perform a second test, between the 5th and 7th day after the first; To this end, teachers or other employees who are in this condition, must inform the governing bodies of their schools, in order to organize the test schedule;

– As happened last May, when kindergartens and preschools were reopened, these tests will be carried out, for logistical reasons, at the Dr. Horácio Bento School of 2nd and 3rd Cycles in Gouveia;

– All students enrolled in the schools of the Region will receive two reusable masks, for use in accordance with the recommendations of the Health authorities, as well as the operational and contingency plans of the educational institutions they attend; These masks, with adequate design and construction, will respect the standards established by the Health entities;

– All these measures have an additional character to the others contained in the operation and contingency plans of the Schools of the Region, and are a contribution to the tranquility in the beginning and operation of the academic year 2020/21, in which, more that never, are imposed. , on the part of the Educational Communities, Families and Students, behaviors of scrupulous respect for the adopted rules and recommendations, the most appropriate means to guarantee an effective fight against COVID-19.
