HE Bank of Portugal (BoP) recommends that the bank’s customers to update your contacts with him respective institutions so that they can continue shopping online. The recommendation follows the national plan for strong customer authentication enforcement, published in July.
“Consumers are recommended to update, until August, your contacts with your bank / payment service provider and adhere to the robust authentication solutions, ideally at the end of October, continue effect online purchases with a card ”, underlines the banking supervisor, in a statement.
This is because starting next year there are new rules regarding online payments. In practice, these types of purchases will be more secure from 2021.

It should be remembered that banks and payment service providers have until the end of next year to adopt strong customer authentication for online card payments.
