“The building does not have habitability conditions for now and was under the surveillance of the PSP, which will carry out studies to determine the causes of the fire,” explained the commander of the Lisbon Firefighters Regiment, Tiago Lopes.

The same source added that the work of the firefighters ended and that for now there is no one in the houses.

“Morning [terça-feira] during the day the competent authorities will make a new inspection and will check if what we determine today is correct or not ”, he said.

The building where the fire occurred has 10 fires, but only seven were inhabited, for a total of 11 people.

Tiago Lopes had told the Lusa agency that the neighbors had been contacted by the responsible entities and that until that moment none had needed relocation, if necessary.

The fire, which broke out at 5:40 p.m., was fought by more than fifty operatives, was controlled at 6:30 p.m. and was considered to be in the resolution phase at 8:00 p.m.

The commander of the Lisbon Firefighters Regiment had also highlighted the “extremely rapid” action to fight the fire, with the support of the Volunteer Firefighters of Campo de Ourique.
