The signing is not official yet, but left-back Gideon Mensah will be a V. Guimarães player. The Ghanaian is already in Portugal and the contract should be signed this Monday, after the athlete performs the usual medical tests. Only then will the duration of the agreed contractual contract be known.
Mensah came to be desired by FC Porto, but the Dragons abandoned the deal that allowed Guimarães to win pole position by signing, leaving behind clubs like Anderlecht, Genk and Monaco, who also tried to trade the 22-year-old defender.
With a contract with Salzburg, the player was transferred to Zulte Waregem, from the Belgian first league, last season, where he appeared in 23 games and made two assists on goal.
Gideon Mensah arrives to fill a vacancy in the squad that only Jonas Carls had for the left-back position, which even led to the young João Mendes being called up to team B to train with the main team and with him, in Sunday, to the Quiaios stadium.
