Motorcyclist dies in the Vade river in Vila Verde

The man who fell this Sunday from a height of 13 meters on the Boco bridge, in Covas, Vila Verde municipality, could not resist his injuries, the death being declared on the spot by the INEM medical team.

The death was confirmed to O MINHO by José Freitas, commander of the Ponte da Barca Fire Department, who rescued the victim still alive from a field on the steep bank of the Vade River.

“Upon our arrival the victim was still alive, we immobilized and stabilized the victim together with the Arcos de Valdevez IVS and we retired to the ambulance with our rescue team at a high angle, but the victim went into cardiorespiratory arrest and it was not possible to reversal, ”said the commander.

The accident occurred around 6:00 p.m. when the motorcycle on which the victim, aged about 60, slipped and collided with a railing of the Boco bridge, in a deserted area that divides the municipalities of Ponte da Barca and Vila Verde, on National Route 101.

The victim ended up projected before the impact and fell to the victims of the Vade River, which passes through that place in a very wild state.

The Ponte da Barca Firefighters and the INEM Immediate Life Support ambulance, based in Arcos de Valdevez, were present to assist the victim.

Traffic was cut off for more than half an hour to rescue the victim, who was transported to the Braga Institute of Legal Medicine.
