Chega’s only deputy, André Ventura, delivered a draft resolution to Parliament on Friday to revoke the decision of the Council of Ministers to declare the state of contingency as of September 15.
“As the people say, the Government is trying to ensure that Portugal does not die of the disease, but of a cure, and that is unacceptable,” justifies the part in the document delivered to the Assembly of the Republic, to which I had access.
For Chega, it is necessary to reverse the contingency situation announced by the Government. “It is not necessary to be clairvoyant to anticipate the very serious consequences that this announcement by the Council of Ministers has in the different areas of social and economic life and, above all, in the confidence of economic and financial operators. More so, of course, when the measure is announced in the strongest month, in terms of tourism, for the Portuguese economy ”, he argues.
“After several months, and with the Portuguese economy in a process of slowdown never seen before, with evident repercussions on the levels of economic and human development in the country, the Government arrives, at a time when tourism, restaurants and other services are beginning to look for solutions to breathe more freely, to announce, several weeks in advance, a dubious and unclear state of contingency ”, laments that political force.
The party represented in Parliament by André Ventura rather defends a “Prevention and Salvation Plan (PPS), which no longer implies restrictions on economic operators”, as well as a “Special Surveillance Plan (PEV) that allows monitoring and identifying outbreaks and higher risk sectors ”.
