Brazil with 881 more deaths in 24 hours

Brazil has passed the barrier of 800 daily deaths associated with the new coronavirus, having recorded 881 deaths in the last 24 hours, out of a total of 12,400 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

The figures were published by the Ministry of Health, which also announced the existence of 9258 new infected, a total of 177589 people diagnosed with covid-19 in the country.

According to the guardianship, 206 of the 881 deaths occurred in the last three days, but were incorporated into today’s data, and the possible relationship of 2050 deaths with the new coronavirus is still being investigated.

The increase in the number of deaths in Brazil was 7.6%, going from 11,519 on Monday to 12,400 on Tuesday. Regarding the number of infected, the growth was 5.5%, going from 168331 cases to 177589 confirmed cases of infection.

The Brazilian government also reported on the recovery of 72597 patients infected with the new coronavirus, adding that 92593 are still under surveillance.

The fatality rate of covid-19 in Brazil is now 7%.

São Paulo, the richest and most populous state in the country, continues to be the federative unit that concentrates the largest number of cases, and officially represents 3,949 dead and 47,719 infected.

The other states that have already passed the 10,000 confirmed cases of the disease are Rio de Janeiro (18486), Ceará (18412), Pernambuco (14309) and Amazonas (14168).

The Ministry of Health also reported that 93 health professionals were hospitalized with confirmation of covid-19 disease from the start of the pandemic.

In a press conference, the deputy secretary of the Health Surveillance Secretariat, Eduardo Macário, said that they were identified in the information system of the Ministry of Health. 39 cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) with covid-19 before February 26, date of the official confirmation of the first case of the new coronavirus in the country.

The secretary said the ministry asked states where the cases were identified before February 26 to start an investigation process.

The incidence rate of covid-19 in the South American country is 84.5 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

Globally, according to a report by the AFP news agency, the covid-19 pandemic has already claimed more than 289,000 deaths and infected more than 4.2 million people in 195 countries and territories.

More than 1.4 million patients were considered cured.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late December in Wuhan, a city in central China.
