Valentina Fonseca, 9, was murdered at her home and the body appeared in a mountain range, six kilometers from the house, four days later. The main suspects in the crime are the father and the stepmother.

On Thursday the 7th, her father would alert the GNR of the disappearance of the girl in Atouguia da Baleia, Peniche. There were four days of searching. Police, fire, scouts, military, and popular people joined together to find Valentina.

The father’s calm, the carpet on the porch, the washed clothes and the inconsistencies in the testimonies led PJ to a conclusion: Valentina Fonseca will have been beaten and killed by her father with the help of her stepmother. The autopsy reveals that he was in agony for 13 hours. The body was thrown on a saw and covered by a broom.

A week after his death, his father and stepmother are sentenced to preventive detention.

May 7th

Sandro Bernardo, Valentina’s father, alerted the GNR at 8:30 a.m. of the disappearance of his 9-year-old daughter.

Firefighters, GNR and pisteiro dogs toured streets and fields in the parish. The girl could not be far.

The crime scene was remote. The Judicial Police was already aware of the case with the indication that in 2018, the girl had already disappeared from another house where the family lived in the municipality, then the police found her.

As time goes by and without news of the girl, doubts begin to arise. The first question is the moment when Valentina disappeared. The father says he last saw his daughter around one in the morning. He says he went to curl up in bed.

Valentina had been at her father’s house for a week. It would show signs of being sad; The change in routines, the absence of school and the impossibility of being with friends, may have bothered the girl.

There were no signs of third party intervention or evidence of violence in the home. In addition, the fact that the child took off his pajamas, sneakers and only with a coat could lead him to think that he would not walk much. Maybe you want to go back. He had no access to cell phone or internet.

Another hypothesis, presented by the family, is that the child had a sleepwalking crisis. However, the possibility was unlikely, since the girl was very afraid of the dark.

A day had passed and there is no trace of Valentina.

My love, come back to us, we are desperate “

Family members and those close to the family continue to be questioned by the PJ.

TO False leads are delaying the judicial police investigation. Sightings, psychics and even clothing. A man on horseback found a jacket and a T-shirt in a no man’s area. At the beginning of the night they found another coat whose importance had not yet been confirmed.

Clues increasingly point to the voluntary disappearance: Valentina may have left the house alone overnight.
