95 more dead and about ten thousand cases of covid-19

This Thursday there are 95 more deaths from covid-19 and 9927 new infections from the new coronavirus SARS CoV-2. There are more than 6,356 active cases and 40 patients have been hospitalized.

After the daily record of infections registered on Wednesday (10,027), Portugal is registered this Thursday 9927 new positive cases. In total, since the start of the pandemic, 456,533 infections have now been confirmed.

A The northern region continues to have the highest values, with 3,554 confirmations of infection (225,957 in total accumulated since March 2020), followed by Lisbon and the Tagus Valley with 3501 (148,343), the Center with 1855 (55,523), the Alentejo with 574 (13,389), the Algarve with 348 (9184), Azores with 68 (2232) and Madeira with 27 (1905).

The epidemiological bulletin issued by the General Directorate of Health (DGS) refers to the existence of 95 more deaths due to covid-19, which brings the total number of deaths to 7,472 since March 2020.

More patients with covid-19 died in the Lisbon region and the Tagus Valley, with 38 deaths, followed by the North with 27 more, the Center with 17 more, the Alentejo with 10 more and the Algarve with 3 more. Azores (22) and Madeira (16) did not register fatalities in relation to the newsletter on Wednesday.

One of the patients who died is a man in the age group 40-49. Two more men between the ages of 50 and 59 died. There were five deaths between 60 and 69 years (four men and one woman) and 25 between 70 and 79 years (18 men and seven women). At age 80 or older, 24 men and 38 women died in 24 hours.

Highlight for the increase of 6356 active cases, bringing the total to 93,360. There is another 3,476 patients who managed to recover (355,701 since the start of the pandemic) and more than 3,668 are under surveillance by health authorities, who are now tracking 103,771 confirmed cases that are in quarantine and suspected cases in prophylactic isolation.

Compared to Wednesday’s bulletin, 40 more covid-19 patients were hospitalized and now there are 3,333 hospitalized, 514 in intensive care units (one more).
