81 more deaths and less than 3,000 new cases of covid-19, half to the north

A day after having exceeded 5,000 deaths from covid-19 since the start of the pandemic, Portugal this Tuesday registers more 81 deaths and 2905 infected. More than 6500 patients recovered.

There are another 2905 infected with covid-19, according to today’s epidemiological bulletin of the General Health Directorate, which brings the total number of confirmed cases since March to 327,976. Of these, 70,426 correspond to active patients, 3,761 less than yesterday. As for the recovered patients, the number increases: there are another 6585 people considered cured and the total rises to 252,428.

The northern region has more than 1584 infected, which is equivalent to approximately 54.5% of all new infections, increasing the total number of infected to 172,536. They are followed by Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, with 758 new infections (and a total of 106,896). In the Center region, there are 418 more cases (in 33,572), in Alentejo another 40 (in 6990) and in the Algarve another 75 (in 5789). The Azores archipelago registers 15 new cases (in 1207) and Madeira one plus 15 cases (986).

Portugal, which on Monday surpassed the 5,000 death barrier, today registers 81 more deaths, 5,122 since the start of the pandemic. 44 victims were registered in the north, 22 in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, 13 in the center, one in the Alentejo and the other in the Azores. Regarding age, 57 people were over 80 years old (25 men and 32 women), 13 were between 70 and 79 years old (ten men and three women), ten were between 60 and 69 years old (seven men and three women) , and one man died in the age group 50 to 59 years.

The number of patients admitted to the ward, which yesterday increased by 99 compared to the previous day, today falls to 3,263 (minus 104). There are fewer than 14 patients in intensive care units, reducing the total number of hospitalized patients to 499.
