78 more dead. More people died in November than in all of October

There are another 5,839 cases and 78 more deaths from covid-19 in the last 24 hours in Portugal, according to data from the bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS) this Thursday (November 12).

It is the second day with the most deaths since the beginning of the pandemic, after the 82 registered yesterday, and the second day with the most cases, the record still being the 6640 counted on November 7. On the 4th, the bulletin pointed to more than seven thousand cases, but that included hits from the previous days.

In the first 11 days of November (this bulletin refers to the data counted until Wednesday), 585 people have already died from covid-19, more than in the entire month of October, when 567 deaths were registered.

In total, since the beginning of the pandemic, 198,011 cases of covid-19 and 3,181 deaths have been registered in Portugal. This Thursday, there are still more 3,336 patients recovered (there are already 113,689 since the start of the pandemic), with the number of active cases increasing 2,425, to 81,141.

According to the newsletter, there are still 2,794 people hospitalized (nine more than the day before), of which 383 (less eight) in intensive care units.

There are more than 568 contacts under surveillance by the authorities, for a total of 89,675.
