There are 76 new positive cases to report this Friday in Madeira, a figure that establishes a new daily maximum of cases.

Regarding the new infections reported on the first day of 2021 by the Regional Health Directorate (DRS), it is known that they are 18 imported boxes (10 from the Lisbon and Tagus Valley Region, 3 from the United Kingdom, 3 from Venezuela, 1 from France, 1 from Russia) and 58 cases of local transmission, most of them already associated with contacts or contexts of positive cases.

Currently, 697 cases are active, of which 177 are imported cases and 520 are locally transmitted cases.

Regarding the isolation of active cases, 32 people are isolated in a dedicated hotel unit, 625 in their own accommodation and 40 people are hospitalized today (36 in the Multipurpose Unit and four in the Intensive Care Unit dedicated to Covid-19).

In total, there are also 168 new situations that are being studied by the health authorities, all related to contacts with positive cases, situations reported to the SRS24 line or by SESARAM. Epidemiological investigations are ongoing.

Today there are also 31 more recovered cases to report, so the Region now has 1,125 ‘cured’ cases.
