This Tuesday, Portugal exceeded 300 thousand cases of covid-19 since the start of the pandemic. A day marked by the death of 72 more people, in an obituary already with 4 577 names.
One day after nine months since the confirmation of the first two cases of covid-19 in the country, Portugal has so far recorded 300,462 infections associated with the disease caused by the SARS-Cov-2 virus, more than half in the month of November. According to the bulletin of the General Health Directorate, in the last 24 hours, 2401 people have been confirmed with the virus, the lowest figure since October 20, with 1,876 new cases.
Portugal currently has 75,008 active cases, 5,606 less than the previous day. The number of recovered has also increased substantially. Since Monday, more than 7,935 people have recovered from Covid-19. Health authorities monitor more than 79,000 people, 1,514 fewer than 24 hours ago.
The northern region continues to be the most affected by the pandemic with 43 deaths and 1,300 infected in 24 hours. It is followed by Lisbon and the Tagus Valley with 538 new cases and 11 deaths, the Center with 349 infected and 13 deaths, the Alentejo with 129 infected and three deaths and the Algarve with 48 cases and two deaths. Madeira has 20 new cases and the Azores another 17 infected in one day. The autonomous communities did not register any deaths this Monday.
Of the 72 deaths, 48 were over 80 years old (20 men and 28 women), 15 were between 70 and 79 years old (nine men and six women), five were between 60 and 69 years old (four men and one woman) , one a man was between 50 and 59 years old, another between 40 and 49 years old, a woman between 30 and 39 years old and another between 20 and 29 years old.
In Portuguese hospitals there are 3,275 people hospitalized with covid-19, 67 patients less than on Monday. In intensive care, on the other hand, there are four fewer people who need more attention; in total, 521 are infected in the ICU.
