Portugal registers 71 more deaths and 3,334 infected by the new coronavirus in the last 24 hours, according to the General Directorate of Health (DGS).

The epidemiological bulletin of the DGS reveals that there are 3,027 people hospitalized, 54 more than on Saturday, of which 483 are in intensive care, minus two.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Portugal has already registered 6,134 deaths and 374,121 cases of infection by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, with 70,754 active, more 844 compared to Saturday.

Health authorities have 82,591 contacts under surveillance, plus 3,088 for Saturday.

The bulletin also reveals that 2,419 recovered cases have been reported.

Since the beginning of the epidemic in Portugal in March, 297 233 people have recovered.

Regarding the 71 deaths registered in the last 24 hours, the bulletin reveals that 25 occurred in the North region, 22 in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region, 21 in the Center, two in Alentejo, one in the Algarve and the Autonomous Regions of Madeira and Azores. they had no deaths.

In Alentejo, 164 more cases were reported, totaling 9,068 infections and 164 deaths since the epidemic began in Portugal.

The Algarve region has reported 63 new cases, with a total of 6,589 infections and 64 deaths.

Madeira registered 31 new cases. Since March, this autonomous community has recorded 1,239 infections and eight deaths.

In the Autonomous Region of the Azores, seven new cases were registered in the last 24 hours, for a total of 1,558 infections detected and 21 deaths.

Confirmed cases are distributed in all age groups, with the highest number of infections between 20 and 59 years.

The new coronavirus has already infected at least 168,032 men and 205,953 women in Portugal, according to data from the DGS, and 136 cases of unknown sex are being investigated, as these data are not provided automatically.

Of the total deaths, 3,192 were men and 2,942 women.

The highest number of deaths is still concentrated in people over 80 years old, followed by people between 70 and 79 years old.
