The Region registers, this Tuesday, 60 new positive cases of covid-19, 11 of which imported and 49 of local transmission. It’s a record number of new cases in one day.
“Today there are 60 new positive cases to report, so RAM already has 1,620 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the regional territory. These are 11 imported cases (3 from the United Kingdom, 1 from France, 1 from Spain and 6 from the Lisbon Region and the Tagus Valley) and 49 cases of local transmission, most of them already associated with contacts or case contexts previously identified positives. Epidemiological investigations are still ongoing ”, says the epidemiological bulletin of the Regional Health Directorate.
There are 14 more recovered cases to report. The Region now has 1045 recovered cases of covid-19. To date, the Region represents a total of 12 deaths associated with covid-19.
Currently, there are 563 active cases, of which 163 are imported cases and 400 are locally transmitted cases.
“Regarding the isolation of active cases, 55 people are isolated in a dedicated hotel unit, 473 in their own accommodation and 35 people are currently hospitalized, 31 in the Polyvalent Unit and 4 in the Intensive Care Unit dedicated to covid-19” says the epidemiological bulletin of the Regional Health Directorate.
In total, “there are 120 new situations that are currently being studied by health authorities, all related to contacts with positive cases, situations reported to the SRS24 hotline or by SESARAM, EPERAM. Epidemiological investigations are underway.”
Until December 29, “3,080 notifications of suspected cases of COVID-19 were counted in RAM, of which 1,460 were not confirmed.”
Contacts for the SRS24 line (800 24 24 20) now total 25,801 calls, plus 295 calls in the last 24 hours.
Regarding the active surveillance of the contacts of positive cases, “2,145 people are being accompanied by the health authorities of the different municipalities of Madeira and Porto Santo.”
Regarding the surveillance of travelers, “25,705 people are also being accompanied by the authorities, using the MadeiraSafe application”.
Regarding the PCR tests for covid-19 screening carried out in RAM, the bulletin indicates that “in the context of the passenger screening operation in the ports and airports of Madeira and Porto Santo, a total of 140 223 harvests to COVID-19 Test carried out until 18:00 today “.
In total, the samples processed in the SESARAM, EPERAM Clinical Pathology laboratory for PCR tests amount to 228,399.
