In 14 days, 58 counties increased their risk of transmitting the new coronavirus. This is at least what the data from the General Directorate of Health (DGS) reveal with the figures of new infections accumulated in the last two weeks per 100,000 inhabitants in the 308 Portuguese municipalities. In 58 of them, new infections per 100,000 inhabitants increased to such an extent that the level of risk of transmission increased. Four of them (Freixo de Espada à Cinta, Marvão, Póvoa de Lanhoso and Armamar) went up two levels and two (Gavião and Mondim de Basto) even went up three levels. In the last balance, Gavião had 398 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and now that number has risen to 1,440, it is the municipality that had the greatest variation.

In counterpart, There were 38 municipalities that lowered the level of risk. Of these, two of them even went down two levels. Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo had 1,468 per 100,000 inhabitants and now has 806. Manteigas already had 2,029 per 100,000 inhabitants and now has 1,363, it is the municipality that had the greatest negative variation.

The municipality with the most cases per 100,000 inhabitants is Freixo de Espada à Cinta, with 3,153 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants registered between November 12 and 25. It was the municipality that, in this period, registered the most new infections – and the only one that it exceeded the line of 3,000 new cases for every 100,000 inhabitants.

Freixo de Espada à Cinta thus moves away from the second municipality with the most new cases per 100,000 inhabitants, from November 12 to 25: Lousada is home to 2,415 new infections. It is followed by Guimarães with 2,293 more, Fafe with 2,151 more and Vila Nova de Famalicão with 2,107 more.
