There are 54 new positive cases to report in Madeira this Wednesday. These are four imported cases (2 from the United Kingdom, 1 from Switzerland and 1 from Northern Portugal) and 50 cases of local transmission, most of which are already associated with contacts or contexts of previously identified positive cases. Epidemiological investigations are still ongoing.
Regarding confirmed cases, there are three cases in the health area, three from SESARAM’s health professionals, one of whom has contact with a positive case, outside the work context.
With 10 more recovered cases reported, out of a total of 941 recovered cases, there are now 391 active positive cases in the Region, of which 110 are imported cases and 281 are locally transmitted cases.
Regarding the isolation of active cases, 63 people are isolated in a dedicated hotel unit, 306 in their own accommodation and 22 people are hospitalized, 21 in the Multipurpose Unit and one in the Intensive Care Unit dedicated to covid-19.
In total, there are 208 new situations that are currently being studied by health authorities, all related to contacts with positive cases, situations reported to the SRS24 line or by SESARAM. Epidemiological investigations are ongoing.
Regarding the active surveillance of the contacts of positive cases, the health authorities of the different municipalities of Madeira and Porto Santo accompanied 1998 people. Regarding the surveillance of travelers, 22,925 people are also being accompanied by the authorities, using the Madeira Safe application.
