There are 43 new positive cases to report this Saturday in Madeira. A new daily maximum registered since the beginning of the pandemic in the archipelago. On these new positives, there are 12 imported cases (11 from the United Kingdom and one from France) and 31 cases of local transmission, associated with contacts or contexts of previously identified positive cases.
Regarding the cases confirmed today, there is a positive case in the social area, being a professional in training identified in the context of follow-up of contacts of a positive case from a Residential Structure for the Elderly, of the social sector. The epidemiological investigation is still ongoing.
On the other hand, there are 26 more recovered cases, so the Region now has 861 recovered cases of covid-19. That is why 321 are currently active cases in Madeira, of which 74 are imported cases and 247 are locally transmitted cases. Regarding the residence of active cases, 47 are non-residents and 274 are residents.
Regarding the isolation of active cases, 39 people are isolated in a dedicated hotel unit, 263 in their own accommodation and currently 19 people are hospitalized, 18 in the Polyvalent Unit and one in the Intensive Care Unit dedicated to covid-19 .
In total, there are 63 new situations that are being studied by the health authorities, all related to contacts with positive cases, situations reported to the SRS24 line or by SESARAM. Epidemiological investigations are ongoing.
