There are 41 people hospitalized in the Unit dedicated to Covid-19 of the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital, a figure that is explained by the transfer of the “about 20” infected from the Hospital dos Marmeleiros, in Monte, to the main health unit of the Region. in Funchal.

According to the DIÁRIO found in a hospital source, three other people are hospitalized in the Multipurpose Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and in the Observation Room of the Emergency Service (ED).

There are five patients occupying a new area on Floor 1

As stated by SESARAM – in a state of the art on the outbreak at Hospital dos Marmeleiros – the two dozen covid-19 patients identified in the referred unit are already “hospitalized in the dedicated area of Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça”.

It is recalled that the covidário of the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital reached its maximum capacity this Thursday. The DIARIO knows that around 10 patients had already been referred, on Tuesday, to other rooms, in order to provide this area (Floor 1 – East) for patients with covid-19. The choice for this space is because it is the only one with a direct connection to the covidary, although with some limitations.

The criticisms were made by the President of the Regional Government of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque

A source from SESARAM also confirmed to our morning that the outpatient area will undergo changes, in order to avoid a hypothetical increase in hospitalizations due to the new coronavirus in Madeira.
