A 31-year-old man died when he fell from a well about 15 meters deep, while cleaning up a forest, in the Astromil parish, in the municipality of Paredes.
For JN, Eduardo Costa, a native of the parish of Termas de São Vicente, in Penafiel, walked with a team cleaning the forest in that parish. During the task, the structure that covered the well gave way and Eduardo Costa fell from a height of about 15 meters, without his colleagues noticing.
When he realized that the other workers were looking for him, Eduardo managed to alert them, indicating where he was, and help was called.
When the Rebordosa Volunteer Firefighters arrived at the scene, they requested the support of a wide-angle rescue team from the Lordelo corporation, due to the depth of the well.
Eduardo Costa was taken out of the well, but he was already in cardiopulmonary arrest. “We began resuscitation maneuvers, with the support of the Vale do Sousa medical and resuscitation team, but we were unable to reverse the stoppage and death was declared on the spot,” said Paulo Ferreira, second commander of the Rebordosa Volunteer Firefighters.
