There are 31 new positive cases to report this Sunday in Madeira. There are 17 imported cases (10 from the United Kingdom, four from the Lisbon and Tagus Valley Region, one from the Center region, one from the North of Portugal and one from Italy) and 14 cases of local transmission, mostly associated . to contacts or contexts of previously identified positive cases.

Regarding confirmed cases, there are two positive cases in the health area, one being an identified user in the field of in-hospital patient screening and a health professional, with contact with a positive case, outside the professional context.

Today there are also 19 more recovered cases to report, so the region now has 332 active cases, of which 90 are imported cases and 242 are locally transmitted cases.

Regarding the isolation of active cases, 35 people are isolated in a dedicated hotel unit, 281 in their own accommodation and currently 16 people are hospitalized, 15 in the Polyvalent Unit and 1 in the Intensive Care Unit dedicated to covid-19.

A 97-year-old patient with Covid-19 died today at the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital, bringing the number of deaths associated with the new coronavirus in Madeira to nine.

In total, there are 131 new situations that are being studied by the health authorities, all related to contacts with positive cases, situations reported to the SRS24 line or by SESARAM, EPERAM. Epidemiological investigations are ongoing.
