3 new cases in São Miguel and 2 recoveries in the region

The three diagnosed cases correspond to passengers from air connections with the Portuguese peninsula, and two of them were detected by a SARS-CoV-2 screening test carried out on arrival, namely, a 28-year-old woman, resident in the Region, and a 38-year-old male, non-resident.

The other diagnosed case refers to a 54-year-old male, resident in the Region, who carried out the test with a negative result upon arrival and whose test carried out from the sixth day gave a positive result.

Two men were recovered, one 24 years old on the island of São Miguel and the other 42 years old on the island of Terceira, bringing the number of cases recovered in the Region to 237.

In addition, he mentioned that, fulfilling the recovery criteria in mainland Portugal, three individuals left the Region, namely, from São Miguel, a 63-year-old woman and two 35 and 66-year-old men.

Thus, so far, 387 cases of infection by the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which causes the disease COVID-19, have been detected in the Region, with 78 currently active positive cases, 63 of which on the island from São Miguel, eight on Terceira Island, one on Graciosa Island, two on Pico Island, two on Faial Island, one on Santa María Island and one on Flores Island.

The prevention and containment measures of a pandemic must be maintained and strengthened, whenever possible, by citizens and organizations from the public, private and social sectors.
