This Thursday, at 11:42 am (local time), an earthquake of magnitude 3.7 on the Richter scale was registered, whose epicenter was located about 35 kilometers west-northwest of Cape Mondego.
The earthquake was felt “with maximum intensity III / IV” in the municipality of Mira, in Coimbra, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA). It was also felt “with less intensity” in the municipalities of Coimbra, Condeixa-a-Nova and Porto, adds the IPMA. PUBLIC journalists in Porto and Albergaria-a-Velha (Aveiro) felt the earthquake.

The Mercalli scale, which measures the intensity of earthquakes, varies between I (imperceptible) and XII (almost total damage). The intensity III means weak level and intensity IV a moderate level.
