There are 29 new positive cases that will be reported this Wednesday in Madeira, all of them transmitted locally, linked to contacts or contexts of previously identified positive cases.

In total, there are 130 new situations under study by the health authorities, six from the Madeira airport control operation and 124 related to contacts with positive cases, situations reported to the SRS24 line or by SESARAM. Epidemiological investigations are ongoing.

According to the epidemiological bulletin, these 29 new positive cases refer to six counties in the Region, with special emphasis on Funchal, which registered 15 new infections.

The President of the Regional Government continues to reject the application of sanitary fences in the Region, even acknowledging that the active cases in Machico had increased fivefold: “At this moment we have all the identified chains. It only makes sense if there is lack of control and if there was community transmission ”, he observed.
