Among the municipalities most affected by the number of infections by the new coronavirus is Vimioso, with 3,207 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by Castelo de Vide with 2,398 / 100,000 inhabitants, Marvão with 2,396 / 100,000 inhabitants and Mourão with 2,286 .

In the December 21 bulletin (the last one with this data published weekly) these were also the three counties with the highest incidence rate of cases. Vimioso has now registered another increase since the previous data accounted for 2,908 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and Castelo de Vide that went from 2,364 to 2,398.

Marvão registered a decrease from 2,862 to 2,396.

In the explanatory note of the data by municipality it is indicated that the accumulated incidence “corresponds to the quotient between the number of new confirmed cases in the 14 days prior to the moment of the analysis and the estimated resident population”.

With zero cases of infection there are nine counties: Alcoutim, Lajes das Flores, Lages do Pico, Santa Cruz das Flores, Barrancos, Nordeste, S. Roque do Pico, Corvo and Vila Nova de Paiva.

A total of 41 counties registered 119 fewer occurrences per 100,000 inhabitants.

Portugal began this Sunday the first phase of vaccination against covid-19, with the first batch of 9,750 doses of the vaccine developed by Pfizer-BioNTech to be distributed by health professionals.

The state of emergency, enacted on November 9, was renewed until January 7, with a mandatory curfew in counties with the highest risk of contagion.

On New Year’s Eve there will be a curfew from 23:00 and on January 01, 02 and 03 from 13:00.

The ban on driving on public roads will come into effect from 11:00 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and from 1:00 p.m. on January 1, 2 and 3.

The measures apply to all municipalities in mainland Portugal.

Today’s bulletin reveals that in the last 24 hours 58 people died from covid-19 and that 2,093 new cases of infection by the new coronavirus were reported.

The data also shows that 2,967 people are hospitalized, 97 more than on Sunday, of which 503 are in intensive care, that is, one less.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Portugal has registered 6,677 deaths and 396,666 cases of infection by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, with 68,307 active today, 99 more than on Sunday.

The covid-19 pandemic caused at least 1,765,049 deaths derived from more than 80.6 million cases of infection worldwide, according to a report prepared by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
