24h Le Mans: Filipe Albuquerque in pole position

Phil Hanson, Filipe Albuquerque and Paul Di Resta’s United Autosports’ Oreca 07 – Gibson # 22 was the fastest in the hyperpolo at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and will therefore leave pole position in the LMP2 class.
In second place was Aurus 01 – Gibson # 26 of G-Drive Racing by Roman Rusinov, Jean-Eric Vergne and Mikke Jensen, who were defeated by 0.332s. Third place for Oreca 07 – Racing Team Nederland’s Gibson # 29 by Frits Van Eerd, Giedo Van Der Garde and Nyck De Vries, with the young Dutchman recovering well from a track start in the early stages of Hiperpole. United Autosports # 22 was always ahead of its class and confirmed the good progress already revealed yesterday by Filipe Albuquerque.

Overall, pole position for the Toyota TS050 – Hybrid # 7 of Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Jose Maria Lopez with a half surprise being the second place of the Rebellion R13 – Gibson # 1 of Bruno Senna, Norman Nato and Gustavo Menezes, 0.555 s but left the next Toyota, the # 8 of Sébastien Buemi, Kazuki Nakajima and Brendon HARTLEY at 0.8s.

In the LMGTE Pro, pole for the Porsche 911 RSR – 19 # 91 of the Porsche GT Team, of Gianmaria Bruni, Richard Lietz and Frederic Makowiecki, who beat the Ferrari 488 GTE Evo # 51 of the AF Corse of Alessandro PIER GUIDI, James CALADO and Daniel SERRA by 0.241s, with Aston Martin Racing’s Aston Martin Vantage AMR # 95 by Nicki Thiim, Marco Sorensen and Richard Westbrook 0.126s behind.

Finally in the LM GTE AM, pole for Luzich Racing’s Ferrari 488 GTE Evo # 61 by Francesco Piovanetti, Oswaldo Negri Jr and Come Ledogar, who beat Dempsey’s Porsche 911 RSR # 77 – Proton Racing by Christian Ried, Riccardo Pera and Matt Campbell for just 0.056s with Egidio Perfetti, Larry Ten Voorde and Matteo Cairoli’s Team Project 1 Porsche 911 RSR # 56 in third place at 0.325s.

The race starts tomorrow at 1:30 pm in mainland Portugal, and rain can make its appearance during the race, as showers are expected for several hours of the day, between Saturday and Sunday. At night there is also the possibility of fog and at the end of the race the weather is expected to be good.
