23-year-old woman killed in PSP action shot in chest – Portugal

A 23-year-old girl died in the early hours of Thursday after a police operation in São João da Madeira. According to information confirmed to Mail in the morning, the woman was shot in the chest.

According to the statement sent by the Public Security Police (PSP), around midnight the patrol headed towards Avenida do Vale, in São João da Madeira, where it detected a suspicious vehicle circulating in the zone of “theft, with lights off, stopping for parked vehicles. “

Police heard a glass break from a parked car and immediately approached the occupants. During this approach, the police fired with a firearm and the suspects managed to escape from the vehicle in which they were.

According to the PSP, a 23-year-old girl with a gunshot wound was later admitted to the hospital “which is supposed to be related to this event.”

The young woman, who will be a resident of Porto, died in hospital in cardiorespiratory arrest.

In the statement sent by the PSP it is not clear that the girl’s gunshot wounds were caused by a police shot.

Two inspectors from the PSP Inspection attended the scene and a disciplinary investigation was opened to investigate the circumstances “surrounding the police intervention.”

The Judicial Police and the General Inspectorate of Internal Administration (IGAI) have also learned of the situation.
