161 more deaths and 4,387 cases of covid-19 in Portugal

There are 161 more deaths associated with covid-19 and 4,387 new infections, according to this Wednesday’s epidemiological bulletin. The Lisbon region has the highest daily values.

Portugal registers a total of 14,718 deaths of covid-19 and 774,889 infections confirmed by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus since the pandemic began in March 2020.

This wednesday there 161 more deaths by covid-19, 77 of which occurred in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region (5,982 in total). It is also this area of ​​the country that has the highest number of new positive cases: 2,192 (290,071) of 4387 confirmed within 24 hours.

In the north there are 33 more deaths (4,917), in the center more than 31 (2,624), in the Alentejo more than 12 (841), in the Algarve more than six (271), in Madeira more one (55) and in the Azores another (28).

Most of the fatalities are 80 years or older; in the epidemiological bulletin published by the Directorate General of Health (DGS) there are 103 more deaths in this age group (45 men and 58 women). But you have to mourn the death of one woman 30-39 years old and two women 40-49 years old. The other patients who did not resist covid-19 are a man between 50-59 years old, 18 people between 60-69 years old (ten men and eight women) and 36 between 70-79 years old (27 men and nine women). .

There are more than 1050 confirmed positive cases in the north (319,127), another 775 in the center (110,616), another 185 in the Alentejo (27,303), another 129 in the Algarve (18,992), another 47 in the Madeira region (5142). ) and nine more in the Azores (3638).

This Wednesday the trend to decrease in hospitalizations is confirmed: at least 241 hospitalizations and nine in Intensive Care Units. Still, 5,829 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized and 853 are in a more serious condition.

In the same vein, there is at least 4,555 active cases, 123,132 people are still infected in Portugal.

They managed to recover 8781 more people (636,859 since the beginning of the pandemic) and 162,566 are under surveillance by the health authorities, that is, 8988 less compared to Tuesday’s bulletin.
