14 new cases of Covid in Madeira – DNOTICIAS.PT

Madeira currently registers 14 new positive cases of Covid-19, so we now have 554 confirmed cases in the regional territory. These are 5 imported cases (2 from Poland, 1 from Germany, 1 from the Czech Republic and 1 from Switzerland) and 9 cases of local transmission.

Regarding the 9 cases of local transmission confirmed today, the health authorities explain that they are associated with close contacts of recently identified positive cases, which were already being followed by the health authorities. Among these cases, we highlight the existence of 2 health professionals, who work in the private sector, in the area of ​​dental medicine, and 1 young student from an educational establishment in the municipality of Santa Cruz. The School was informed, having activated the respective contingency plan.

It should also be noted that, in the context of the epidemiological investigation of the remaining previously identified positive cases, COVID-19 tests are underway, with no other positive cases having been identified so far.

There are 6 more recovered cases to report, and the region now accounts for 348 recovered cases of COVID-19, with 2 deaths now associated with COVID-19 in RAM.

In total there are 204 active cases, of which 143 are imported cases identified in the context of surveillance activities implemented at the Madeira airport and 61 are cases of local transmission. Regarding the residence of active cases, 123 are non-residents and 81 are RAM residents.

Regarding the isolation of active cases, 76 people are isolated in a dedicated hotel unit, 125 in their own accommodation and 3 people are hospitalized in the Polyvalent Unit dedicated to COVID-19.

Also reporting 61 new situations that are being studied by the health authorities, 7 from the airport control operation and 54 related to contacts with positive cases or situations reported to the SRS24 line. Epidemiological investigations are ongoing.
