According to the Regional Health Authority, in the framework of the screening carried out on those arriving in the Region, a positive case was detected on the island of São Miguel, corresponding to a 25-year-old woman, not a resident of the Region, from an air connection with the Portuguese mainland. , who was diagnosed by a SARS-CoV-2 screening test conducted upon arrival.

In the context of an epidemiological investigation related to an entertainment establishment in Ponta Delgada, on the island of São Miguel, a 27-year-old woman was diagnosed.

Regarding the chain of transmission in the epidemiological investigation focused on Ribeira Grande, a 19-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man were diagnosed.

After the onset of symptoms, two women, aged 25 and 34, and a man, aged 51, were diagnosed on the island of São Miguel, and the cases were under epidemiological investigation.

Two new transmission chains in Terceira

In the municipality of Praia da Vitoria, on the island of Terceira, two new transmission chains were detected, originating from people from abroad.

Thus, in the area of ​​the first chain, a 37-year-old man was diagnosed. Within the second chain, three positive cases were detected, corresponding to female individuals, aged between 52 and 86 years.

Still on the island of Terceira, and in the context of the chain of transmission associated with a restaurant in the parish of São Mateus, a 21-year-old man was diagnosed.

The Regional Health Authority, explains, in a note, that an epidemiological link was established between the chain of transmission associated with a higher education establishment reported yesterday on the island of São Miguel and that referred to an entertainment establishment located in Ponta Delgada, leading to string reconfiguration.

Thus, the Region has 12 active transmission chains, five on the island of São Miguel, four on the island of Terceira, two shared between the island of São Miguel and the island of São Jorge, and one on the island of São Jorge.

9 recovery in the last 24 hours

Nine recoveries were registered, eight on the island of São Miguel, corresponding to two female individuals, aged 40 and 45, and six male individuals, aged 18 to 80, and one on the island of São Jorge, of a person of the sex male, 29 years old.

So far, 641 cases of infection by the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which causes the Covid-19 disease, have been detected in the Region, with 351 cases recovered and 197 positive cases currently active, of which 164 on the island of São Miguel. , 22 on Terceira Island, seven on São Jorge Island, one on Pico Island, two on Faial Island and one on Santa María Island.

Currently, 2,059 people are under active surveillance in the Azores.

Two new hospitalizations

With regard to hospitalizations and compared to yesterday, the number increased from 8 to 10. Thus, the Hospital do Divino Espírito Santo in Ponta Delgada has 7 hospitalizations and the Hospital de Santo Espírito on Terceira Island has three hospitalizations.
