11 new cases in the last 24 hours in the Region and 11 recoveries

The new cases were diagnosed, five in São Miguel (four in Rabo de Peixe, Ribeira Grande municipality and one in Ponta Garça, Vila Franca do Campo municipality); five new cases in Pico (one in Madalena and four in Ribeiras, municipality of Lajes) and one case on Terceira Island, in the parish of São Bartolomeu de Regatos, municipality of Angra do Heroísmo.

According to the Regional Health Authority, in São Miguel, four of the new cases are the consequence of community transmission and one refers to a non-resident traveler, with a positive result on the sixth day.

On Terceira Island, the diagnosed case refers to a traveler, a resident, with a positive result on the sixth day.

In Pico, the five new cases are, in their entirety, part of the active chain on that island.

The 11 recoveries were all in São Miguel, (one in Santa Cruz da Lagoa and 10 in Rabo de Peixe, in Ribeira Grande).

There is an active chain of transmission on the island of Pico.

There are currently 864 active surveillance. There are no hospitalizations to register.

To date, the Azores have 66 active positive cases, 52 in São Miguel, 11 in Pico, two in Terceira and one in Faial.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the Region has registered 3,881 cases, 3,681 people recovered from the disease and 29 died.
