There are 11 new positive cases to report this Sunday in Madeira, so the Regional Health Directorate already has 683 confirmed cases of covid-19 in regional territory.
Regarding these new cases, there are three imported cases (United Kingdom, Lisbon Region and the Tagus Valley and North of Portugal), with eight cases of local transmission, all associated with contacts of previously identified positive cases.
It should be noted that one of the cases of local transmission identified today refers to a young man who attends a higher education institution in the Region. The establishment has already been informed and the respective contingency plan has been activated.
The University of Madeira (UMa) reported moments ago that two positive cases of covid-19 were detected, in a professor and a student of the institution, respectively.
Today there are also 11 more recovered cases to report. The region now has 515 recovered cases of covid-19 and for that reason there are 166 active cases left, of which 54 are imported cases identified in the context of surveillance activities implemented at the Madeira airport and 112 are cases of local transmission. . Regarding the residence of active cases, 34 are non-residents and 132 are residents in the Region.
Regarding the isolation of active cases, 29 people are in isolation in a dedicated hotel unit, 132 in their own accommodation and 4 people are hospitalized in the Polyvalent Unit dedicated to covid-19 and one patient in the COVID Intensive Care Unit -19.
