The 54-year-old coach, who was guiding the B formation of the emblem of the mouth of the Ave, handed over Mário Silva to the head of the main team this week and wanted to praise his predecessor’s position.
“He always had a great commitment and collaboration with me when I was in team B. Our relationship was good and correct. I hope that in the future he will be successful because of the person he is, ”shared Pedro Cunha.
With the chapter of Mário Silva closed, the new Rio Ave coach does not feel that his time in the main team is short-term, considering that he has already shown “competition in the club.”
“The demand is huge, but we are aware that we are going to achieve the results we wanted. I feel like a Rio Ave coach, I have a license and I have a team that believes I am the leader and knows the path they want to take with me,” he stressed.
Pedro Cunha’s first test will be this Sunday, against Paços de Ferreira, on the 12th round of the championship, with the coach considering that, despite having only been working with the group for two days, he has already managed to transmit some of his ideas. .
“We will try to make our mark in front of a fantastic and high-quality group. Our aim is to bring ambition and passion, with an attractive game idea that empowers them individually and collectively,” said the coach.
Pedro Cunha acknowledged, even so, that the team “is not going through a good time”, the result of five consecutive games without winning in the championship, but he called on the athletes to overcome to reveal the mystique of the club.
“We have the club’s DNA and we want to show that passion. The fans are at home suffering from the results and not being able to watch the games, but we know that we have a city behind us, which deserves that the team is the mirror of the claw and soul of Vila do Conde ”, said the new coach.
Pedro Cunha pointed out that, despite using a tactical system similar to that of his predecessor Mário Silva, “the dynamics will be different”, believing that he could “counter” a rival who deserved praise this Sunday.
