Porsche 911 Reimagined Special Edition for Australia

When car manufacturers make a one-time version of their cars, the formula often involves a combination of adding power and subtracting weight; but what if it was just to honor the first edition? Say no more because Porsche did just that, celebrating the inauguration of the inaugural 911 sold in Australia.

“The concept was to take a 911 in 1965 and reimagine that car and what we could do with it in 2020,” said Dean Williams, new Porsche Center Melbourne car sales price.

In homage to the Steingrau (Stone Gray) 911 of 1965, the German motorist makes a 992 Carrera S doppelganger. Set up via the Porsche Exclusive Manufacturing worldwide network, the new Porsche models are optional as iterations of the original. While the stone gray color is not in Porsche’s 2020 steel, a new shade called “Crayon” was introduced as a replacement. Other exterior adjustments include 20- / 21-inch five-spoke wheels that enclose black brake calipers (as they were on the original).

While the exterior has styling hints of the original, there is more than meets the eye. Sure, the 1965 version had a five-speed manual transmission, but the new car has an eight-speed PDK. It lets Porsche’s customers experience the exclusivity of the older model with the modern technology of the 992.

Modifications to interiors are much more nuanced compared to the exterior. The original featured green leather complimented by a maple-yellow dashboard and matching wooden handlebars that perfectly fitted the frames. Not surprisingly, it is difficult to improve on the aesthetic interior of 1965; it was a collection of colors that would not be heard today.

The 14-way adjustable seats on the 992 are tucked away in Agave Green Club Leather, with a matching belt and contrasting outer-colored stitching. The green on the seats is accompanied by a lighter shade of leather in the rest of the car. At exits and entrances, residents are also greeted by illuminated doors that honor the 1965 model on which the 992 is based.

Although the package is not exactly a limited model, it is great to know that the German automaker is more popular than rarity.
