Poll: Would you still pay for PS Plus if online multiplayer was free elsewhere?

PS Plus PlayStation Plus 1

There are growing rumors that Microsoft plans to remove the multiplayer paywall on its Xbox consoles, meaning that you won’t need to pay a subscription fee to play online. It would be a bold move considering that the Redmond firm was the first to introduce such a scheme on consoles, but would it affect its relationship with PlayStation Plus at all?

Sony’s membership model has become a scandalous source of revenue for the company, attracting more than 41.5 million subscribers. While the company has yet to comment on how PS Plus will be incorporated into PlayStation 5, it is safe to assume that it will remain a requirement for online multiplayer for the next generation and beyond.

But if the Xbox Series X removes the paywall and Sony doesn’t, would that affect your intention to purchase the PS5? What would the Japanese giant need to do to justify its popular subscription service, and could it even impede hardware sales? This is a very real reality that the manufacturer may be facing, which is why we are eager to hear your opinion on it.
