Poll: Biden leads Trump by 4 points in Florida

Mason-Dixon’s poll finds Biden with 50 percent support, compared to 46 percent for Trump. The survey has a margin of error of 4 percentage points.

The results come when the Florida polls RealClearPolitics average shows Biden with a 7-point lead over Trump, though that figure is fueled by two polls this month that show Biden with a double-digit lead. A Quinnipiac University poll released two weeks ago found Biden ahead for a staggering 13 points in Florida.

Most recently, a CNBC-Change Research poll released Wednesday put Biden’s lead at 3 points. Most of the other recent polls have the career in the range of 5 to 6 points.

Florida was for former President Obama in 2008 and 2012.

In the new Mason-Dixon poll, Trump and Biden each have 87 percent support from their respective parties.

Biden leads Trump by 9 points among independents and 10 points among women. She leads by 82 points among black voters and by 17 points among Hispanics.

Trump has a slight 2-point lead over Biden among the men. He leads by 17 points among white voters.

Younger voters break energetically for Biden, who leads by nearly 40 points among adults under the age of 35 and by 9 points among those between the ages of 35 and 49. Trump performs best among older voters, leading 5 points among people ages 50-64 and 9 points among people age 65 and older.

Trump’s favorability index is 41 percent positive and 51 percent negative. Biden is viewed favorably by 45 percent of Floridians, compared to 37 percent who view him unfavorably.

The Mason-Dixon poll of 625 registered voters in Florida was conducted July 20-23.
