A talented cosplayer brought Sonia from Pokemon Sword & Shield to life in an incredibly accurate costume. The artist is very similar to the beloved teacher, it’s almost as if she jumped from the Nintendo Switch and got into real life.
Pokémon entered its eighth generation with the launch of Sword & Shield in 2019. The popular role-playing game got players exploring the Galar region for the first time, while bringing new mechanics like Dynamaxing and Max Raids to the series.
One of the new characters introduced at the Gen VIII launch is Sonia, who is Professor Magnolia’s assistant and granddaughter. A cosplayer brought the popular hero to life in a mind-blowing costume that is sure to leave fans in awe.
Pokémon cosplayer becomes Sonia’s real life
While Sword & Shield focuses on the player trying to become the next champion, the title also has a side story about a character named Sonia who eventually becomes the next teacher in the Galar region.
Bringing the beloved character to reality, cosplayer ‘angealy02’ shared his realistic version of the researcher. The artist posed adorably as Sonia hunched over her computer desk as she immersed herself in her research.
Angealy absolutely nails the teacher’s signature look, perfectly reflecting her peach-colored hair with heart clips. She even recreated the ponytail that sits on her shoulder.
In another take, the cosplayer channels the character’s love for Pokémon by hugging a Snorlax plushie. With her black rimmed glasses on her forehead, the artist shows how she also faithfully captured Sonia’s striking aquamarine eyes.
Angeal’s version of the heroine Sword & Shield is incredibly accurate – from her green striped shirt to her lab coat, this is one of the best character cosplays we’ve seen. To put the whole piece together, she also pretended to be the teacher taking a break from her studies and playing on a Nintendo Switch.
Pokémon has never been more popular as Sword & Shield is already on its way to becoming the third best-selling title in the entire franchise. Fans around the world still can’t get enough of their addicting game ‘Catch’ Em All ‘.
Lovers of the Gen VIII title are in luck, as this year it is expanding in a big way. The game’s second DLC plugin ‘The Crown Tundra’ will be released sometime this fall.
