It’s something that has been teased for a while and now trainers will finally be able to invite other friends to join them in Pokemon Go Raid Battles.

The new feature was added on July 15. Previously, when participating in Raid Battles remotely, coaches were unable to play with friends who did not live nearby.

This was understandably frustrating for gamers as they often spent more time waiting in the Raid Battle lobbies than actually playing. Fortunately, with the addition of the new invitation feature, this issue should be fixed for many coaches.

Inviting friends to Raid Battles will be the last way to interact with friends in Pokemon Go …

When you join a Raid Battle there will be a ‘+’ button. By touching this, you will have the opportunity to invite up to five friends.

As mentioned above, you can send invitations to any Pokemon Go friend regardless of their location. So if a coach is on the other side of the world, you can still invite him! Also, there doesn’t seem to be any friendship level requirements either.

The invitations you receive will be displayed on the Nearby screen, which can be accessed by clicking the ‘Nearby’ button in the lower right corner of the main Pokémon Go screen. Invitations can also be received via push notifications, but you will need to make sure they are activated.

Will Niantic reverse these changes?

The change is part of Niantic’s ongoing effort to make Pokémon Go more of a “play at home” game. Obviously, her hand was forced when the well-documented global health crisis (you may have heard of it) hit several months ago.

It remains to be seen whether developers will reverse any of these changes when the world returns to normal. By the time that happens, however, trainers may have gotten so used to the changes in Pokemon Go that there will be demand for the game to stay the same. After all, it seems that players enjoy the most freedom to play from home.
