PlayStation Title Moon’s ‘Anti-RPG’ title hits Switch eShop this August


Tokyo-based developer Onion Games, who previously worked on games like The Little King’s Story, Chibi-Robo! and even Super mario RPG – has announced its cult classic ‘anti-RPG’ Moon It will launch on Switch eShop (here in the west) next month on August 27 for $ 18.99 / € 15.99 / £ 14.49.

This is the first time the game has been released in English since its original PlayStation debut in 1997. The title already launched on Switch in Japan last year and went straight to the top of the eShop download charts. It ended up being the seventh best-selling game overall in 2019 at the Japanese electronics store. Here is the full summary of official public relations:

One night, under the silver light of the full moon, a boy is suddenly absorbed through his television and in a video game, a classic JRPG called “Moon World”. Following closely the brave hero of the game, the boy begins his own journey to retrieve the missing moonlight in the world by collecting “Love”.

As the Moon World hero loots and levels up by slashing monsters for experience points, you know, just like heroes do, the boy unleashes their souls and collects their “Love”. Moon is not a game where you fight to level up – your own progress comes from gathering lost “Love”!

As you explore the world, you will meet a crazy cast of weird and wonderful NPCs. Observe their strange habits and daily routines by visiting them at different times and days of the week, and learn their secrets to discover even more lost “Love”!

Moon it’s a game about turning those [RPG] tropes backwards and see what really happens behind the scenes of your favorite RPG video games.
