Players have discovered the seed of the Minecraft title screen

A group of players recently discovered the seed for the Minecraft title screen, which means you can now mine diamonds and defeat vines in the game’s most recognizable world.

The discovery was originally shared on Reddit, where a user using the Tomlacko name posted their findings.

“Everyone should be familiar with this world,” wrote Tomlacko. “It’s the one that always appeared on the main Minecraft menu, blurry and slowly rotating.”

“It first appeared in 2011 for Minecraft Beta 1.8 and stayed for many years, until it was recently replaced in 1.13 and in all later versions,” they added. “And nobody knew the seed, until now.”

Tomlacko says the project started on June 14, 2020. Starting on July 18, the team finally managed to unearth the official seed of the iconic title screen, which they have since shared online.

The project involved investigating the exact world version of the Minecraft poster, as well as its world axis and Z coordinates, which were intuited using cloud formations.

“So a part of a new research-oriented Discord server for Minecraft Minecraft @ Home was dedicated to this project and the work started quickly,” says Tomlacko.

According to the post, a video detailing the ins and outs of the project will soon be posted on the SalC1 channel on YouTube. Until then, you can watch the official seed reveal in the embedded video below.

For those interested in visiting the world seed of the Minecraft title screen, here are the details:

  • Version: Beta 1.7.3
  • Coordinates: X = 61.48 ~, Y = 75, Z = -68.73 ~
  • Seed: 2151901553968352745 OR 8091867987493326313 (both work)

The Minecraft @ Home team is also conducting other research right now, with Tomlacko specifically mentioning his quest for the tallest cactus. So far, they’ve managed to find a natural 22-block cactus, which really is a lot of block spikes.

There are also many other cool projects going on in Minecraft. One player managed to build a perfect replica of the Skyrim Shrine of the Dark Brotherhood, even the Mother of Night! – in Minecraft, while another is currently working hard to build the Kanto region of Pokémon.
