With the fear that Golden State Warriors point guard Klay Thompson would be seriously injured, could the Warriors trade for James Harden of the Houston Rockets?

Houston Rockets star James Harden has expressed his desire to be traded to a team that can compete for a championship. Would the Rockets be willing to send Harden to the same team that blocked his path to a championship many times before on the Golden Warriors?

At the apex of the NBA draft, reports emerged that Golden State Warriors point guard Klay Thompson had suffered a lower left leg injury. The severity of the injury is unknown, but those close to the situation have expressed concern that it could be significant.

The Warriors looked ready to return to the championship conversation after an injury-ravaged 2019-20 season that saw them finish with the worst record in the league. Klay Thompson missed the entirety of the season recovering from a torn ACL and now his 2020-21 could be in jeopardy.

The Warriors are in winning mode now and may need a backcourt partner to team up with Stephen Curry if Thompson is out for a significant period of time. James Harden is the best player available on the commercial market and has been adamant about his desire to play for a title contender.

The Rockets, after a disappointing draft day, appear to be heading for a rebuild. James Harden’s prime is coming to an end and he has no time to languish in tough times.

The Warriors need another star and the Rockets have the best available. The Rockets need a fresh start and the Warriors have the second overall pick in James Wiseman.

Could the Warriors be bold enough to enter into business talks with the Rockets about James Harden? Would the Rockets even accept an offer? And should they?
