MANILA, Philippines – A woman positively identified the severed head discovered a day ago in Manila as her cousin, a Navy reservist, who is believed to have been abducted in Navotas, police said Friday.

In a progress report from the Manila Police District Homicide Section, police said Marie Ann Esguerra received a call from her niece about the kidnapping of Oliver Ignacio on Thursday afternoon.

Ignacio, 37, was last seen in a seizure area in the city of Navotas, Esguerra said.

Days after Ignacio’s kidnapping, Esguerra said she received a photo of the decapitated head through her social media account that led her to report the incident to Navotas police, who took her to Funeraria Cruz where the severed head was placed. .

Esguerra later told Manila police that the head was indeed his cousin’s.

Ignacio’s decapitated head was discovered by authorities along Florentino Torres Street near Soler Street in Sta. Cruz, Manila on Thursday at 11:50 p.m.
