With 2 LPA in PH, Palace tells the public to prepare in case of evacuation

MANILA, Philippines – Malacañang advised the public on Sunday to prepare and stay alert as the country experiences rains brought on by two low pressure areas (LPAs) and the northeast monsoon.

“According to Pagasa [Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration], we have no typhoon [We do not have typhoon]. However, we remind the public to be alert and prepared for possible landslides and floods caused by heavy rains. Manatiling alert in handa [Remain alert and prepared]”Presidential spokesman Harry Roque said in a statement.

“The Executive continues to work even during this Christmas season to guarantee the health and safety of all. We ask the public to continue to follow their local officials, monitor the latest Pagasa warning and be prepared in the event of an evacuation, ”he added.

Roque also reminded citizens to continue to observe minimum health standards during inclement weather.

According to the 10 am advisory from the state meteorological office, one LPA was located west of the city of Puerto Princesa, Palawan, while another LPA was located east of the Bicol region.

Pagasa said both weather shocks are less likely to turn into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours.

“However, due to improvements in the cloud system from both disturbances over the past 12 hours, the probability of tropical cyclone formation at this time is not ruled out,” he said.

Moderate to heavy rains can be experienced in the Bicol region, Eastern Visayas, Quezon, Aurora, Bulacan, Rizal, Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Dinagat Islands, Calamian Islands and Kalayaan Islands provinces.

Meanwhile, the Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera Administrative Region, Metro Manila, North Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula and the rest of Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Visayas and Caraga may experience light to moderate and occasionally heavy rains. .
