With the end of Survivor: winners at war comes many questions about what will come next. When can we expect to see the Survivor Season 41 premiere on CBS?
Production stopped in seasons 41 and 42 of “Survivor”
Survivor Season 41 was slated to begin filming on March 24 in the Mamanuca Islands in Fiji. However, on March 11, 2020, host and producer Jeff Probst sent a letter to the crew to postpone filming due to the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19).
“Due to the increasing short-term uncertainty surrounding the global spread of COVID-19 and the corresponding desire for the continued well-being of our incredible team, we have decided to delay our start date for Survivor season 41, “Probst wrote in the letter, as reported by Entertainment Weekly.
While it may seem easy to quarantine the 20 contestants and the surrounding production team, it’s more than fans might think.
“Our crew numbers are more than 400 and they fly from more than 20 different countries, creating the need for more time to fully analyze and create our new production safety plan,” the letter continued.
When will season 41 of “Survivor” be released?
“Our intention is to start production after the S40 live show,” Probst wrote on March 11, 2020. “Therefore, subject to new information, our new planned production start date would be May 19, 2020. or approximately. Our intention is to continue shooting seasons 41 and 42 “.
Since Probst wrote that letter to the crew, the blockades have continued across the United States. Currently, Fiji only reports 18 cases of the coronavirus, according to the Worldometer, while the United States has more than 1.4 million cases, with more than 80,000 deaths due to the virus.
The Los Angeles County home stay order was extended until July 2020, so it seems unlikely that production can begin before the order is lifted. If filming could start in August, there is a chance that we will see the season 41 premiere in October 2020.
Fans don’t see “Survivor” season 41 released at any time in 2020
“They used to flip the footage from July to August and they aired in late September,” wrote one Reddit user. “Okay, that was not during a pandemic.”
Fans point out that as long as they can do the 39 days of filming for two months, there could be a fall season.
“If they can start filming in mid-July, we can have a fall season,” added another fan.
With the order to stay home extended until July in Los Angeles, it doesn’t seem likely that the cast and crew will be able to fly to Fiji in mid-July.
“I doubt we have another season this year,” wrote another Redditor. “With all the flights everyone would have to do, it’s just not safe.”
While fans doubt there will be a 41st season this year, some previous contestants suggested other ideas. Former castaway Rob Cesternino hopes that Survivor Could shoot in the Midwest during the summer instead of Fiji.
If the cast and crew can fly to Fiji in late summer or early fall, it looks like we’ll be watching season 41 of Survivor in February 2021. Or, if they decide to shoot somewhere in the United States, it could be sooner. At this time, CBS has not announced a set release date for the show.
