MANILA – As in previous years, Light Rail Manila Corp. (LRMC) dressed up its LRT-1 trains to spread holiday cheer among commuters.
On Monday it unveiled a “Christmask” themed design featuring a giant mask and face shield, serving as a timely reminder to its passengers to do their part in preventing the spread of COVID-19.
Cutting-edge images from the medical field, as well as the security and service sectors, are displayed on each side of the train as a form of tribute.
The front bears the logo of “Ingat Angat Tayong Lahat”, a multi-sector campaign that aims to rebuild consumer confidence and safely restart the economy as the pandemic continues.
“The COVID-19 pandemic hit the country hard and we know that this year’s Christmas celebration will be very different from what we are all used to. But even COVID cannot take away the Christmas season and its meaning for all of us,” he said the president and executive director of LRMC, Juan Alfonso.
“We encourage everyone to celebrate safely, and make this season more memorable for all of us at this challenging time. We want to express gratitude to all the leaders in our lives, as well as raise the spirit of the public through this performance.” added.
Since it resumed operations during the general quarantine of the community, LRMC has been implementing health and safety measures, such as a “no mask, mask, no entry” policy, temperature controls with infrared thermal scanners and installation of plastic barriers in train seats, among others.
