Warriors win, Mavs beat Bucks on second day of NBA preseason

MANILA, Philippines – The Golden State Warriors and Dallas Mavericks will begin with victories on Saturday (Sunday Manila time) against separate opponents on the second day of NBA preseason hostilities.
The Warriors, still reeling from a season-ending injury to star Klay Thompson, posted a 107-105 win over the Denver Nuggets at home.
Returning warrior Kent Bazermore led Golden State with 13 points, while Stephen Curry and Kelly Oubre Jr. each had 10 points.
Hardcore Draymond Green and rookie James Wisseman did not play in the game.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks led the best team in the Eastern Conference last year, the Milwaukee Bucks, 112-102.
Luka Doncic and Maxi Kleber boh scored 13 points to propel the Mavs past the Bucks despite current MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo’s 25 points for Milwaukee.
In the other games, Isaac Okoro impressed on his debut for the Cleveland Cavaliers with 18 points, 16 of which were in the final salvo, including one and one in the final moments of the game that propelled the Cavs to victory.
But it was Cedi Osman who scored the best for Cleveland with 23 points in a 107-104 victory over the Indiana Pacers.
The Memphis Grizzlies also mocked the Minnesota Timberwolves, 107-105, with reigning Rookie of the Year Ja Morant leading the group with 20 points.
The Utah Jazz and Oklahoma City Thunder also claimed victories over the Phoenix Suns and San Antonio Spurs, respectively, to wrap up the day’s games.
The Los Angeles Lakers ’87-81 win over the Los Angeles Clippers and the Houston Rockets’ 125-104 thrashing of the Chicago Bulls were the highlights of the preseason opening night on Friday (Saturday, Manila).
