MANILA, Philippines – Classes were suspended by more local government units on Monday as Typhoon Quinta hit more parts of the country.
Malabon City Mayor Lenlen Oreta suspended classes at all levels in public and private schools “due to heavy rains” caused by the typhoon that “may lead to power outages and Internet connectivity problems.”
The following areas suspended classes due to Typhoon Quinta:
Metro Manila
Pasay City – all levels, public and private
Quezon City: Kindergarten through Senior High School
Mandaluyong city: all levels, public and private
Malabon City: all levels, public and private
City of Manila: all levels, public and private
City of San Juan – all levels, public and private
Caloocan City – all levels, public and private
Taguig City: all levels, public and private
Lagoon – all levels, public and private
Camarines Sur – classes at all levels
Naga City – classes at all levels
Colonel – classes at all levels
Eastern Mindoro – classes at all levels
Sorsogon – classes at all levels (until Tuesday October 27)
Cavite – classes at all levels
Batangas – classes at all levels
Quezon – classes at all levels
City of Lucena – classes at all levels
Bataan – classes at all levels
Quinta was last seen in the vicinity of Socorro, Oriental Mindoro and is moving west at 25 kilometers per hour (kph), according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
It has maximum sustained winds of 125 km / h near the center and gusts of up to 180 km / h.
The typhoon is forecast to leave the Philippine area of responsibility on Tuesday morning.
